How should I deal with recurrent bladder infections?

I have had them for 55 years since my first birth - had 9 pregnancies and a tilted pelvis - at age 80 I do not want surgery - have had to many and dealing with liver and heart issues. I have been on Macro bid for many years which has kept me from having them. now have a new doctor and he won't deal with it. I am 80 and even if it does affect something else - who cares, I am ready to check out of this world in the next few years - having so many health issues. Bladder overlaps -what to take

If your kidney function is normal and you have tolerated Macrodantin in the past, I would recommend a lower dose (Macrodantin 50 mg once a day in the evening). That is usually safe and enough to discourage recurrent urinary infection.

Ever since I was young I've had at least three urinary tract infections a year. I drink plenty of fluids, have good personal hygiene, and I always empty my bladder. Still, I keep getting them. Should I see a urologist about this? What kind of treatments are available for frequent urinary tract infections?
