How can I prevent urinary tract infections?

I find that I'm constantly getting urinary tract infections. It's so embarrassing and uncomfortable. It is often painful when I urinate, and the smell of my urine is foul. I also have pain in my stomach. What can I do to keep from getting these infections?

This is a generic response because the gender and the age of the person asking this question is unknown. I recommend that you seek help from a urologist as there are various potential causes, workups/tests, prevention methods and therapies. Sorry to be so vague.

This is a very common condition. Try cranberry tablets and D-mannose - these are available over the counter. Make sure to drink plenty of water.
